The nearly 2020 Festival Programme

By - 22 April 2020 - 10:00am

So near … yet so far! We were so very close to inviting you to our 2020 Festival, but have been forced to cancel due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We do hope you will join us at our rescheduled events in autumn 2020. Here’s a taste of what we planned.

We are very proud to share with you our 2020 Festival programme, which includes 105 exciting events that we planned to share with you at our Derby Reads launch event on 8 April.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we took the decision on 23 March to cancel the Festival, just before we sent the programme to print.

We are currently working with publishers, authors and our venue partners in Derby to reschedule as many events as possible for the autumn 2020. Our plans for the Autumn Edition 2020, from 30 October to 1 November, will therefore change and, instead of a three-day Festival with 10 events, we will now bring you as many of the 105 events as we can reschedule over the autumn.

In the meantime, we hope you will enjoy browsing through the programme and choosing the events you would have been keen to attend – and hopefully still can attend at our Autumn Festival. At this stage we can’t guarantee we will be able to reschedule them all but early indications are that many of the authors are keen to join us in the autumn!

We would love to hear from you about your choices and will be inviting you to share these with us online in the coming weeks.

Rest assured, we will be working hard on both the Autumn Festival and our 2021 Festival (from Friday 28 May to Saturday 5 June 2021) in the next few months.

We are also looking at ways to bring you some author events and interviews online.
