Marcus Alton & Colin Gibson: Brian Clough: The Lost Tapes

Friday 15 November | 7:30pm - 8:30pm

£12 Venue: QUAD, DE1 3AS

Friday 15 November, 7.30 - 8.30pm

For nearly two decades they remained in a box, untouched and hidden away: part of a unique audio archive featuring the legendary Brian Clough. Now, for the first time, you can share the contents.

Author Marcus Alton is a former BBC and commercial radio journalist who interviewed Cloughie several times and has previously written four books about him, all of which have become best-sellers and raised money for good causes. Marcus will be in conversation with legendary BBC Radio Derby sports presenter, Colin Gibson.

Since the fascinating content was originally recorded, Marcus has taken the lid off the cardboard box of recordings. These range from his first full-length radio phone-in to rare audio features and interviews, including one recorded at his home alongside his European Cup winning captain, with classic comments from Cloughie: “We treated European matches as a holiday. The beaches were beautiful, the food was delicious. Hey, to give them a break from me for two days was the biggest boost I could give them!”

Marcus has also dusted off long-forgotten written articles and features which have been kept in his extensive archives for 40 years. Together they form a fantastic collection, accompanied by memories of some of the key people involved.

This event will be filmed and made available as a digital recording after the Festival. For more information please click here.

Please note that we anticipate that parking will be unavailable at the Assembly Rooms car park as demolition work will have started by November. Alternative parking is available on streets around the Cathedral area and in other public car parks including Chapel Street and Bold Lane.
