In 2019 we worked with nearly 400 young people on programmes designed to increase self- confidence and aspiration.
Our schools programme with da Vinci, Merrill and St Benedict’s schools explored the theme of nature in poetry workshops run by Jess Green, a local performance poet. Our writing competition for Derby College students looked at identity: Who Am I and Where Am I Going? A selection of these writings are featured in our 2019 anthology, Writing Together, which you can read below. You will also find a video of Jess performing ‘Restart’, her poem about aspiration.
You can purchase a copy of 'Writing Together' from the main Shared Writing page.

Writing Workshops
You can view slideshows of the writing workshops we held with our participating schools in 2019, on the themes of nature and well-being. At Willowpit, each school attended their own workshop of creative and writing exercises and enjoyed an inspiring walk around the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve. At Derby College's Broomfield Hall campus, three participating schools spent their day exploring the environment, meeting the animals and getting inspiration for their writing.
The workshops were run by Jess Green. Photography and slideshows by Kim Gribbon.
